Triopetra

Around 52 km south of Rethymno, in the middle of a huge seafront called Akoumiani Gialia, there is a beach that although hardly promoted can offer you an unforgettable experience: Triopetra. The beach was named after the three large rocks that emerge from the sea (Triopetra = three rocks). These rocks are so prominent that could "give away" Triopetra's location even from miles away.

Triopetra's waters – as in all southern beaches – are crystal clear and quite cold, while the beach is sandy. Here, you can find umbrellas and sand beds plus a small traditional tavern, where you can enjoy authentic Cretan tidbits or your coffee. Triopetra is ideal for those of you seek relaxation and peacefulness, since it is never crowded.

It's worth staying in Triopetra till late in the afternoon. At your departure just make a stop to enjoy the sunset. It is one of these moments where the nature reveals all of its beauty.

The beach is easily accessed by car through asphalt roads, whereas the route which bypasses Siderota's foothill through verdurous olive groves is beautiful.
